2008 Shelby Hamfest Shelby, NC
I have wanted to continue using this space to pass along word of Hamfest’s that I receive information on to help get the word out for the Amateur Radio Clubs that put these on. The Shelby Amateur Radio Club will be sponsoring the 2008 Shelby Hamfest (their 52ng annual). The dates are August 30 and 31, 2008.
The hamfest will be at a new location this year. The location will be the Gaston County Park in Dallas, North Carolina. (Directions: From I-85 take the 321 Exit, North on 321 for 2 miles, take the ramp onto 279 towards Cherryville for .8 mile and then you can park at Gaston College.)
Gates open at 7AM both Saturday and Sunday. $5 admission for pre-registration and $7 at the gate. More info can be found at the Shelby Hamfest Website.
Overnight camping is available, there will be a flea market, some great prizes, Volunteer Exams by WCARS/VEC - no preregistration necessary. (2PM Saturday and 1PM Sunday)
Sounds like lots of good things going on, so if you’re in the area or can be and have an interest in amateur radio it should make for a good weekend.
