QRP transceivers - Pixie II

Low power transceivers draws quite a bit of interest in amateur radio circles. Maybe there’s a charm in using the least to get the job done (which is after all one of fcc guidelines…) I think part of it could be that there’s a charm in not spending thousands of dollars… There are a lot of fairly cheap qrp projects and among those is the Pixie II found at kenneke.com. This is a 2 inch square board transceiver that can be designed to operate on 160 meters all the way up to 10 meters.

There are a number of variations on this and similar ideas as well… all pretty much can fit in an altoids tin - how about that a world band transceiver that can fit in your pocket. Of course, you’ll need an antenna as well… but it’s a fairly cheap entry level price to get into HF….

Like I said, there are variations on the pixie out there that are worth a look. What’s really cool to me is the fact that you can really do so much with such a small array of simple components.
