wncps.org
I recently linked to wncps.org which is currently offline. (Actually, the posts that I refer to it in are queued to be posted to the site in the next week.) Some information from that site was available in Google’s cache as being online as recent as January 30th, but on reading the data in MSN’s cache of the page it appears as though the maintainer of that site passed away in March of 2006. For that reason, I suspect the site will not be coming back (in spite of the DNS record being updated recently.) I’ll keep the link for a while and will post some of the information that I’ve salvaged from the cache of the site here. Here is the announcement from the site’s cache…
We are sad to announce the death of Gary Alan Sorrells, the designer and developer of this web site. He passed away in his sleep on Friday, March 3, 2006 after a valiant struggle with cancer.
Gary was a native of Buncombe County. He was a unique person with an incredible outlook on life and a deep commitment to helping to others. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he retired from the VA Medical Center Police Force after 20 years of service. Gary proudly served with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department and later volunteered for the department. He was a former Black Mountain Police officer. He was also recently retired from Rockwell Automation.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Christie Sorrells; two daughters, a step-daughter, step-son, seven grandchildren and one niece.
Gary Sorrells was a fine gentleman, a true friend, and we shall all miss his presence in our lives.

I thank him for his service to our country and to our local area. I also thank him for the information he provided on his web site. I referred to it several times over the years. (His 10 code listing has been in my radio folder for a few years now.)
