I should also mention… another scanner that has had really good reviews and is available in the under $200 category. That’s the Radio Shack Pro-97. (Available for $150 on sale from time to time at Radio Shack.) I’ve seen some really good reviews. The Radio Reference wiki page for it is here. It MAY be supported after rebanding has “trunktraker 3″ for Motorola/Edacs/LTR systems and 1000 memory presets as well as covering most of the bands you might be interested in uhf/vhf wise (minus the obvious cellular blocking) it is missing the tv/am/fm broadcast bands as well. Not wide band, but I’ve seen some REALLY good reports on sensitivity (especially with a replacement antenna.)
