Shortwave broadcast targetted at Iran

Israeli radio targetted Iran with shortwave broadcast.

Sixty six-year-old Amir left his home town of Tehran 47 years ago to come to Israel and has since worked as a broadcaster at the Voice of Israel service in Farsi, which is beamed via short-wave into Iran.

According to the report they represent the state of Israel but not the government and try to bring attention to things that the Iranian government has tried to suppress in the news. They cover news from the Middle East as well as news from Iran.

Amir vehemently rejects any suggestions he and his colleagues are involved in state propaganda against Iran, where the Jewish minority has fallen since Iran’s Islamic revolution in 1979 but still numbers some 25,000.

I’m really surprised that there’s not MORE of this. At one point in time the US had a large (government funded) venture of this, but given how many independent organizations there are and how CHEAP shortwave airtime seems to be, it’s a wonder we don’t have people translating all sorts of news broadcasts targetting various countries that have restricted media.
