Sound effects online for free
I’ve been delving back into audio a bit lately and one of the things I was curious to find were some good freely available (and USABLE) sound effects. I have a 2 cd collection of sound effects which is labeled for private home use only… which precludes me doing much more than making an event sound on the pc with the sound effects… of course, wait, it’s a cd and to use it on the computer would be ripping the content and THAT would be bad…. Anyway…. There is a great resource online for sound effects and they are all available for download and use in whatever way you like… they’re licensed under the creative commons license. Anyway, it’s the Freesound project
So, it might be the great resource you’ve been looking for to make your new audio drama complete. The quality of sounds varies, some are in mp3 format, most seem to be wav or aif format. Some of the sounds I’ve found there are absolutely excellent. (And I hope at one point to have good enough portable equipment to contribute some as well.)
