Fantastic! New Dr. Who series to air in the USA
The BBC and Sci-fi channel have announced that the recent Dr. Who series (shown last year in the UK and other places around the world.) Will be shown in the USA on the Sci-Fi channel this spring. It will air Friday evenings at 9PM. Last year, the pilot episode was shopped to the Sci-fi channel, but they passed on it. It was a HUGE hit in the UK last spring/summer. Like many revivals, I was a bit anxious as to how “well done” it would be. By and large, this one doesn’t disappoint.
I don’t see a date announced, but I’ve seen March mentioned. There is a reference to the DVD release being moved to July 4th in the US. I’m sure many here in the U.S. will remember the original series of Doctor Who which for years has run on various PBS stations. Good to see it coming back here in the US. I was afraid we’d be left out entirely.
The U.K. will be moving on to series 2 (season 2) of this rendition later in the spring. There’s no word on when the US might get series 2 (season 2 for US viewers.)
